Mapping out your weight loss journey can be a very powerful tool to help rationalise your progress. By understanding your expected rate of weight loss, you can set realistic expectations for the future.

But remember:


  • Weight loss is likely to be greater as the scales will measure more than body fat.
  • This is a mathematical calculation and assumes you perfectly manage your energy balance every day, which is highly unlikely.
  • Over time, metabolic adaptation may take effect and cause fat loss to slow. This concept is covered in later modules.
